The only operating brewery with its own restaurant in Ventura, Anacapa Brewing Company has built a solid reputation among ale lovers with high-quality microbrews and excellent food. There’s nothing tremendously out of the ordinary here; the owners focus on delivering a quality brewpub experience with few frills.
The beers on-tap change seasonally and as the brewery experiments with different formulations, but some dependable choices include the Santa Rosa Red and the Seaward Golden Ale. Start your meal with Anacapa’s popular Asiago cheese dip, served with fresh seasonal vegetables, or the Buenaventura rolls stuffed with sun-dried tomato, avocado and red onion then fried and served with a cilantro-tamarind dipping sauce. For entrees, you can’t go wrong with the half-pound Brewhouse burgers, especially the San Buenaventura with grilled bacon, avocado, cheddar cheese and special sauce. The pulled pork sandwich is also handled ably. Service is quick and attentive and prices are reasonable.
